DESCRIPTION
Interstellar was inspired (and created on-site) while I was visiting the Los Angeles Science Center in Los Angeles, CA.
I had gone solely to see the touring exhibition of Tutankhamun - His Tomb and His Treasures. If you get a chance to view it, go!
I documented images of the ancient Egyptian stone statues and architectural details from tombs; blending and layering them over 20 images into a digital collage.
The collage was done - that is until I stepped into the Air & Space wing of the museum. It featured NASA space crafts and the history of the United States space program.
That was when it really took shape - Combining imagery of modern space technology with ancient Egypt just made sense to me. I had witnessed two very distinct periods of time; two cultures at landmark high points of technology and power.
How far - and yet how little - have we progressed as a people of earth? What have we learned and also forgotten? Interstellar 001 asks the viewer to think of their own culture, its trajectory, and its past.
