Hello!

Born and raised in the Green Mountains of northern Vermont, Sam Jaspersohn is an artist in both the visual and musical fields. His musical journey commenced as a teenager when he built his first computer for electronic composition at 15, simultaneously mastering the art of vinyl mixing. Over the years, he has cultivated a following, with his track "Islands" featured on John Digweed's Bedrock 18–Signals compilation in 2016. His music, released on esteemed imprints such as Tenampa Recordings and Manjumasi Music, has garnered support from industry luminaries including John Digweed, Pete Tong, and Hernan Cattaneo. Following a 12-year tenure in Brooklyn, Jaspersohn relocated to Los Angeles in 2017, where he continues to explore diverse musical projects. His productions are noted for their intricate balance of melancholic and euphoric tones, juxtaposing darkness and light with clarity and nuance. In 2018, he joined the influential music collective ebb + flow.

Simultaneously, Jaspersohn has established himself as an abstract visual artist based in Vermont. A graduate of Skidmore College with a BS in Fine Arts, he has experience as a set designer, and prop stylist and art handler in both New York and Los Angeles. His large-scale canvases merge abstract expressionism with a dynamic use of color, characterized by bold, sweeping brushstrokes that evoke movement and emotional depth. Jaspersohn’s artistic vision is to convey energies, calm, and introspection, utilizing diverse media such as acrylics, spray cans, watercolors, resin, oils, and silkscreens. Through both his music and visual art, he aims to inspire and provide profound new perspectives to his audience.

I’m Sam Jaspersohn, a visual artist based in Northern Vermont. After years working in film and commercial art departments in New York and Los Angeles, I stepped away in 2022 to focus on painting. My work explores rhythm, gesture, and stillness through abstract mark-making and repetition.
