ORDERS & SHIPPING
Prints are archival pigment prints, shipped unframed, flat or rolled. Originals ship stretched and ready to hang. Everything ships from Johnson, Vermont, and you’ll receive a tracking number when your order goes out.

Prints: $10 flat rate, US and international. Free on US orders over $300.
Originals: [shipping included in price / quoted per piece].

DUTIES & TAXES
International buyers are responsible for any duties or taxes due on arrival.

ORDER QUESTIONS
If your order hasn’t arrived within 15 business days (US) or 21 business days (international) of shipping, email support@samjaspersohnstudio.com. Please check your address at checkout. Packages returned for an incorrect address are reshipped at the buyer’s cost.

ALL SALES FINAL
Prints are editioned and originals are one of a kind, so all sales are final. No returns or exchanges.

DAMAGE IN TRANSIT
If something arrives damaged, email support@samjaspersohnstudio.com within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the box and the damage. We’ll work out a repair, replacement or refund.

MADE BY HAND
Each painting is built up in layers and taken back down by hand. Variations in surface and texture are part of the work. Colors may look different from screen to screen.

PRICES & ERRORS
Prices may change without notice. If we find an error in the price of something you’ve ordered, we’ll contact you, and you can confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

PRIVACY
We collect what’s needed to process and ship your order: name, email, shipping and billing address, and order details. Payments are encrypted and handled by Shopify; we never see your card number. The site uses cookies, and Shopify and its advertising partners may use browsing data to show you relevant ads. You can opt out at privacy.shopify.com. To see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop marketing emails, email us or use the unsubscribe link in any email.

I'm Sam Jaspersohn, a painter in Northern Vermont. I trained as a printmaker in intaglio, block printing and silkscreen, then spent fourteen years as a production designer and art director on film and commercial sets in New York and Los Angeles. I stepped away in 2022 to paint.

I still work the way a printmaker does, in states. A painting gets built up and then taken back down, with a wall sander from my painting business, with heat, with water. What survives each pass is what the next one sits on. I decide how much can survive, but I don't fully control what comes back.

The paintings are made of repeated undulating lines and textures that get buried and then brought back up. In the color work, that comes through as light, color you look into rather than at. In the black and white work it comes through as depth, forms that surface and dissolve again, close to what you see with your eyes closed when you stop trying to look at anything.

I'm still figuring out what these paintings are about. I know they make me feel peaceful, and so does making them.
